In short

The authorised list names them. Vitamin C, vitamin B5, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 each contribute to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, and all four are in one Core™ portion.

  • Four for tiredness. Vitamin C 120 mg, vitamin B5 5 mg, vitamin B6 1.7 mg and vitamin B12 24 µg per portion.
  • Five for energy-yielding metabolism. Biotin joins those four: biotin contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism.
  • One portion a day. The vitamins come in the same as 11,000 mg of hydrolysed marine collagen.

Which vitamins help with tiredness?

Vitamin C, vitamin B5, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 are the four vitamins in Core™ that the EU links to tiredness. The EU keeps a list of permitted health claims made on foods, and a vitamin may only speak about tiredness if that list says so, in the words the list gives.1

Among the vitamins in Core™, four have that permission. The wording is identical for each, so we quote it as written:

  • Vitamin C contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
  • Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
  • Vitamin B6 contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
  • Vitamin B12 contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

All four are in every portion of Core™, at the amounts shown in the table below.2

What does "energy-yielding metabolism" mean?

Energy-yielding metabolism is how your body turns food into energy. You will meet the phrase on labels too, and it sounds more technical than it is.

Five nutrients in Core™ hold this claim.1 Vitamin C contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism. Vitamin B5 contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism. Vitamin B6 contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism. Vitamin B12 contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism. And biotin contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism too, which is why the energy count is five while the tiredness count is four.

Notice the word "normal" in every line.

Which vitamins are in one Core™ portion?

One portion of Core™ contains vitamin C, vitamin B5, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, biotin and vitamin D. The table below sets out the five linked to tiredness and energy, with the amount of each per portion; % NRV is the share of the daily reference amount printed on food labels.2 The right-hand column gives the authorised wording for each.1

Three of these four vitamins are at or above their full reference amount: vitamin C at 150% NRV, vitamin B6 at 121% and vitamin B12 at 960%. Vitamin B5 comes in at 83%. You get all of it from one small pour, alongside the collagen, so there is no second tablet to remember.

Which vitamins carry a claim for mental performance?

How do you make it a daily habit?

Tie the portion to something you already do every morning, and keep the opened pack where you will see it. A liquid portion makes the habit easy: in our trial, 99% of 106 women found it easy to include in their daily routine.2 The whole thing takes less time than making tea.

  1. Shake

    Wake the pack up

Give it a quick shake before you open it, as the first line of the directions says.

  2. Pour

    Fill the cap

The cap is your measure. One portion is the serving every figure in the table above refers to.

  3. Drink

    Straight or stirred

Take it as it is for the natural berry flavour, or mix it through a glass of water or a smoothie.

  4. Chill

    Back in the fridge

An opened pack lives in the fridge. Seeing it beside the milk each day is a reminder in itself.

  • Tie it to something fixed. The first glass of water, the kettle or breakfast will do, so choose one moment and keep the portion there.
  • Enjoy it. Core™ is sugar free and fat free, so the portion fits whatever else you eat that day.

You can see the full label and order on the Core™ product page. If you want the collagen dose explained on its own, read how much collagen to take per day.
