How to take liquid collagen: shake, pour, drink

We have kept this short on purpose. Liquid collagen is ready to drink, so the instructions fit in one line. Below you will find the steps, the ways to drink it, the size of a serving, and how published studies served theirs.

In short

To take liquid collagen, shake the pack, pour your portion into the cap and drink it. With Core™ that is one portion a day.

  • Straight or mixed. Drink the portion as it is, or stir it into water or a smoothie.
  • A serving is one portion. It holds 11,000 mg of hydrolysed marine collagen.
  • Fridge after opening. Keep the opened pack chilled.

How do you take liquid collagen?

You open it and drink it. A liquid collagen is already a finished drink when it reaches you, which leaves very little to do. For Core™, our liquid marine collagen, the directions run to a single line: shake, pour into the cap, drink.1 We have added the fridge as a last step so the pack is ready for you tomorrow.

  1. First

    Shake

    Give the pack a shake.

  2. Then

    Pour

Pour your portion into the cap. That is one serving.

  3. Next

    Drink

Sip it neat from the cap. For a taller drink, stir it into water or a smoothie instead.

  4. Last

    Chill

Screw the cap back on and stand the opened pack in the fridge.

Do that daily and you are following the directions in full. Our 60-day collagen routine lays the weeks out as a plan you can follow.

Can you mix liquid collagen into a drink?

Yes. Core's directions give you a choice: drink the portion straight, or stir it into water or a smoothie.1 Both count as taking it properly, and each one goes like this.

  • Straight. This is the quickest way. The portion goes from pack to cap to you, and there is no glass to rinse. Core™ has a natural berry flavour, and it is sugar free and fat free.1
  • In water. Pour the portion into the cap, then stir it into water. You get a longer berry drink from the same serving.
  • In a smoothie. Stir the portion into your smoothie.

Whichever you pick, the serving is unchanged, with the same collagen in a shorter or a longer drink.

Why does collagen stir into a drink so easily?

Collagen stirs in so easily because it is "hydrolysed". Hydrolysed collagen is highly soluble in water, and that property is what allows it to be formulated as a ready-to-drink liquid.2 A peer-reviewed review describes this higher solubility as a main advantage of hydrolysed collagen over native collagen.2

Solubility describes the drink in your hand, and it explains why a collagen portion can exist as a liquid at all. For what else sits in the portion beside the collagen, see what to take with collagen.

How much is one serving?

A serving of Core™ is one portion, and the directions are to take it daily.1 It is a small amount of liquid, poured into the cap.

  • In the portion: 11,000 mg of hydrolysed marine collagen, types I and III, and 9.9 g of protein.1
  • In the pack: 500 ml, kept in the fridge once opened.1
  • On the label: a natural berry flavour, sugar free and fat free.1

We cover the collagen amount itself, and how it sits beside the amounts used in research, in how much collagen to take per day.

How did studies give drinkable collagen?

The studies gave it as a drink. Four published studies in our evidence file describe the serving their volunteers were handed, and those servings were ordinary ones. Each row below is one study, with its own drink and its own participants.

How four studies served their collagen

The volume each study used, what was in it, and what that study reported.

StudyHow the collagen was servedWhat the study reported
A 2024 crossover study of absorption3Each 10 g dose of hydrolysed collagen was dissolved in 200 mL of water before being taken. This row records how the dose was served. Human absorption studies typically give hydrolysed collagen as a drink.
Randomised, placebo-controlled, double-blind trial of 71 healthy women aged 30 to 60, over 12 weeks4A 20 ml drink a day containing 3,000 mg of fish-scale collagen peptides, or a placebo.Periorbital wrinkles fell significantly versus placebo.
Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled pilot trial in 22 healthy Japanese adults aged 31 to 48, over 8 weeks5A daily 30 ml drink with 10 g of fish-derived collagen peptide plus 400 mg of ornithine and vitamin C.Transepidermal water loss was lower than placebo at 8 weeks. The result belongs to the whole drink.
Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in 34 healthy women aged 40 to 65, over 12 weeks610 mL of a liquid syrup a day, providing 4 g of hydrolysed fish collagen plus coenzyme Q10, vitamin C, vitamin A and biotin.Dermis density increased and periorbital wrinkle area decreased versus placebo. The result belongs to the whole syrup.
Each row describes what one study did. Ornithine, coenzyme Q10 and vitamin A are contents of those study products.

In the middle column, one team dissolved the collagen in 200 mL of water.3 Another handed out a 20 ml drink.4 A third used a 30 ml drink,5 and a fourth a 10 mL syrup.6 These are servings you could hold in one hand.

The directions on a pack of Core™ have the same shape, a measured amount of liquid with water as an option. The table shows how each study was run.

How do you store liquid collagen?

Keep Core™ in the fridge once it has been opened.1 The storage instruction ends there, which is why "chill" is the last of the steps above.

What did women in our trial say about taking it daily?

They said it was easy. In our user trial, 106 women took our liquid marine collagen daily for 8 weeks, and 99% found it easy to include in their daily routine.1 If you are wondering how a daily portion will fit in, that is the figure to know. The same women also reported what they noticed over those weeks.

99%

found it easy to include in their daily routine.

95%

felt that the appearance of their skin improved.

89%

reported more moisture and glow.

Each tile is a share of the 106 women. Across the trial, women reported visible results in as little as 4 weeks, with further improvement by week 8.1
