The collagen trials on this page gave a set amount every day for 8 to 12 weeks. To do the same at home, give your portion a fixed moment, a visible spot in the fridge and a simple way to count.
- Daily in the research. 2.5 g a day for 8 weeks in one trial, 1,000 mg a day for 12 weeks in another, 10 g a day for 12 weeks in a third.
- One step at home. Core™ is a single portion a day, poured into the cap.
- Counted in weeks. Note day one, then mark week 4 and week 8.
of the 106 women in our 8-week user trial said our liquid marine collagen was easy to include in their daily routine.
- 95%felt the appearance of their skin improved
- 89%reported more moisture and glow
- 87%noticed fewer fine lines and wrinkles
How do you stay consistent with collagen?
You stay consistent by giving the portion a fixed moment, a fixed place and nothing to prepare. Liquid collagen suits that well, because the drink is already made.
With Core™ the full instruction is one portion a day. Shake the pack, pour into the cap, and drink it straight or stir it into water or a smoothie.
The habit is built around those few seconds, by where the pack stands, what reminds you and how you count.
Why do the trials use a daily amount?
A daily amount is how the trial results were recorded: published skin trials give one amount every day for a stated number of weeks and take their readings under that routine. The three below each had their own participants and their own collagen.
Eye-wrinkle volume about 20% lower than placebo after 8 weeks
The collagen group took 2.5 g of collagen peptides a day. At 4 weeks, and again at 8 weeks, their eye-wrinkle volume was significantly lower than in the placebo group, by about 20% at the second reading.1
114 women aged 45 to 65 · randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled
Hydration ahead of placebo at 6 weeks and at 12 weeks
The daily amount was 1,000 mg of low-molecular-weight fish collagen peptide. Skin hydration was significantly higher than placebo at both readings, and crow's-feet wrinkling and skin elasticity were significantly better than placebo at 12 weeks.2
64 women aged 40 to 60 · randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled
Wrinkle score down 35% from baseline on the right side of the face
The collagen group took 10 g of hydrolysed fish collagen a day. After 12 weeks their wrinkle score on the right side of the face had fallen 35% from baseline, a 24% greater reduction than placebo.3
Women aged 45 to 60 · randomised, triple-blind, placebo-controlled
The tags show amounts that differ a great deal and a rhythm that is identical, every day from the first dose to the final reading.
Length has been examined across many trials at once. A 2023 meta-analysis pooled 26 randomised controlled trials with 1,721 participants and found that oral collagen significantly improved skin hydration and elasticity compared with placebo. The hydration effect was larger when collagen was taken for more than 8 weeks.4
In our own user trial, too, 106 women took our liquid marine collagen daily for 8 weeks.5
The results in these studies were recorded under a daily routine kept up for weeks, so a daily routine is the thing to set up at home. For the study lengths side by side, see our article on how long a collagen course runs.

One fixed moment, a routine to attach it to, a pack where your eyes land and short steps make a daily portion easy to keep. These are small arrangements, made once, so use as many or as few of them as you like.
- Give it one moment. Choose a point in your day that already happens without effort, and let the portion live there. Which point is your call, as long as it is the same one tomorrow.
- Attach it to something you already do. Filling the kettle, feeding the cat or emptying the dishwasher will do. An existing routine is a ready-made reminder, because it arrives whether you think about it or not.
- Put the pack where your eyes land. An opened pack of Core™ is kept in the fridge. The door shelf, or the front edge at eye level, means you see it each time you reach for the milk.
- Keep the steps short. Shake, pour into the cap, drink. The cap is the measure, so the routine needs no extra kit on the counter.
- Count in weeks. Note the date of your first portion and tick off each week as it passes. A short row of ticks is easier to keep than a tally of days.
- Take a photo on day one. Use the same window and the same light, with bare skin. It gives you a starting point to look back at later, in place of a memory.
- Keep the next one in the cupboard. With a fresh pack already to hand, finishing one is a handover and not a pause while you reorder.
- Change the serve when you fancy. Straight from the cap one day, stirred into water or a smoothie the next. The serving is the same however it arrives.
When a day gets away from you, treat it lightly. The pack is still in the fridge, ready for the next portion you pour.
If you are still choosing your moment, our article on when to take collagen lays out the routine each published skin trial in it set for its collagen.
How do you count a course?
Count a course in weeks, from a start date you have written down. Single days are easy to lose track of, while a few weekly markers are easy to hold on to.
- Weeks 1 to 4
Settling in
This is where the moment and the fridge spot settle in. Women in our user trial reported visible results in as little as 4 weeks.5
- Weeks 5 to 8
The same routine
Same portion, same moment, so there is nothing new to learn. Week 8 is where our user trial closed.5
- Past week 8
Keep going
Day 60 rounds off a 60-day course, a few days past the 8 weeks our user trial ran for.
Our 60-day collagen routine maps those weeks against what named studies recorded along the way.
Each portion holds 11,000 mg of hydrolysed marine collagen.5 The full contents are listed on the Core™ product page.
What did women in our trial say?
Women in our user trial said the daily part was the easy part: after 8 weeks of a daily serving of our liquid marine collagen, 99% of the 106 women found it easy to include in their daily routine.5 The same women were also asked what they had noticed.

Three women in their own words
Two beauty editors wrote about taking marine collagen daily over a couple of months or more, and a verified buyer of our liquid marine collagen wrote about the taste.
“And truthfully? My skin looks better than ever.”
She calls herself a sceptic. She took marine collagen every day for two months and found her skin plumper, healthier and noticeably more radiant.
Shannon LawlorBeauty editor, writing in Marie Claire UK6
“The fine lines have definitely softened.”
Her account covers three months of daily marine collagen. Her skin felt softer and smoother from the first month, then plumper and glowier.
Eleanor VousdenBeauty editor, writing in Who What Wear UK7
“The taste is amazing and it is sugar free! Love what it does to my hair, nails and skin.”

Questions about staying consistent with collagen
How do I remember to take collagen every day?
Give the portion one fixed moment and tie it to something you already do. Keep the opened pack at the front of the fridge, where you see it each time the door opens.
Do you need to take collagen every day?
Daily is how it was studied in the trials on this page: 2.5 g a day for 8 weeks in one, 1,000 mg a day for 12 weeks in another, and 10 g a day for 12 weeks in a third. Core's directions follow the same rhythm, with one portion a day.
How long should I keep up a daily collagen habit?
Longer than 8 weeks is the span a 2023 meta-analysis of 26 randomised controlled trials singled out: the skin hydration effect was larger when collagen was taken for more than 8 weeks. Our user trial of our liquid marine collagen ran for 8 weeks.
What is the easiest way to take collagen daily?
A ready-made portion keeps the steps short: shake, pour into the cap, drink. In our 8-week user trial, 99% of 106 women found our liquid marine collagen easy to include in their daily routine.
How do I keep track of a collagen course?
Count in weeks. Note the date of your first portion, then mark week 4 and week 8. A photo taken on day one gives you a starting point to look back at.
